The Government of Kuwait, represented by the Environment Public Authority (EPA), has pledged to ensure the implementation of its National Adaptation Plan (NAP) in partnership with other governmental and non-governmental institutions. A climate change risk assessment is also included, as is a description of the state of the environment and the most important sectors affected by it.
A comprehensive ongoing monitoring program utilizing the necessary environmental data and information to continuously monitor climate change and evaluate its impact on Kuwait, in collaboration with all stakeholders in the areas of adaptation to climate change, including academia, the private sector, and nongovernmental organizations, is one of the anticipated outcomes. These effects include heatwaves, rainstorms, and other rapid floods, as well as an increase in the number and intensity of dust storms and the rise in sea level, which has an effect on infrastructure projects and long-term investments in the future. To determine the socioeconomic effects of climate change risks, a sequential hierarchy method was used. Due to the fact that climate change is a global phenomenon, the risk of climate change is not restricted to a single location or individual who emits greenhouse gases; rather, the risk extends beyond that location and will affect all humans. Where adaptation to climate change necessitates the involvement of all stakeholders in the planning and execution of numerous initiatives, including those related to water, coastal areas, the marine environment, human health, and others
As a result, in order to put into action the programs that have been proposed to adapt to climate change and lessen the negative effects of socio-economic issues, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will seek technical assistance from international organizations, the business community, and other stakeholders. As a result, new programs have been created to deal with the various risks facing different industries and time periods. At the same time, the EPA will continue to play a role in coordinating and supervising the various activities and initiatives that aim to achieve the desired goal of reducing the negative effects of climate change and adopting with it.
In addition, a national coordination mechanism has been identified to implement a variety of national initiatives to protect the various vital sectors from the Negative Impacts of Climate Change.
